Walls & Joists
Rim joists are difficult to insulate with batt insulation due to wiring, plumbing, and heating ducts. They are often a major source of heat loss. It is one of the least thought about but most critical spaces to insulate to reduce condensation and mould issues in a home.
Insulating with spray foam is simple and effective. It expands to fill small and tough-to-reach spaces, providing a consistent and impenetrable barrier.
Bonus Rooms
Homes featuring bonus rooms, such as those over garages, can often be uncomfortable and cold due to lack of insulation. They can be transformed into comfortable spaces with spray foam.
Spray eliminates air flow from the garage, reducing unpleasant smells and noise.
Basements
Most residential basements have cold floors and very often cold walls. This is an area that promotes moisture buildup. Basements suffer from energy loss due to poor insulation, increasing your energy bills.
Spray foam insulation is the best air barrier and provides a superior moisture barrier—all in one application. It adheres to all surfaces, including wood and concrete, and it expands behind the studs, helping to eliminate thermal bridging.
Attics
Traditional insulation, such as batt or blown-in, does not provide a vapour barrier or air seal. Because it does not directly adhere to the substrate, the chance of the insulation material sagging over time is high. If traditional is not properly installed around irregular framing areas or it shrinks in the wall cavity, voids of 1-2% can lower the effective R-value of traditional insulation materials by 25-40%.
At two inches (or greater), spray foam will give you a vapour barrier and an air seal. It adds to the structural strength of the building and will not settle or shrink.
Garages
Insulating and air sealing your garage with spray foam insulation will not only make your work more enjoyable, but you'll create a safer living environment for your family. You'll be able to get your work done without worrying about loud noises bothering people on the other side of the wall.
Spray foam also deters rodents and creates an air barrier which prevents noxious gasses from entering your living space.
Roofs
Spray foam is ideal for irregular and steep rooflines because the foam adheres at any angle or slope. There will be no settling or sagging over time providing a consistent R-value that helps to prevent heat loss, ice damming, mould and mildew, and roof rot. By adding this advanced insulation system, it helps to achieve optimal building performance.
Reduces Noise
Half pound spray foam insulation significantly reduces noise from outside—or from kids playing in the basement—due to its air barrier qualities.
Adds Structural & Racking Strength
Medium density spray foam insulation increases the structural strength of your home by over 200%. With spray foam insulation being applied into all cavities, a structure will become more rigid and as a result, issues such as settling and creaky floors will be moderated. In addition, spray foam insulation will not settle or shrink and adheres to almost any surface, including wood, metal, concrete, and most plastics.
Water Resistant
Due to its non-porous nature, medium density spray foam insulation resists moisture penetration. By comparison, conventional fibreglass batt insulation is susceptible to moisture infiltration, which can drastically reduce its R-value and contribute to mould accumulation.
When applied below grade, medium density spray foam insulation can eliminate the problem of damp or wet basement walls.
Draft Resistant
Traditional insulation is a poor barrier against air leakage since it is unlikely to fill all cracks, seams, and penetrations (such as pipes and vents).
Spray foam insulation expands to seal virtually all spaces where air may escape or enter a structure, resulting in energy savings. At 2 inches or more, spray foam insulation creates an air barrier that eliminates drafts completely.
Air & Vapour Barrier
Spray foam insulation in your home or business will improve air quality. A continuous, airtight seal prevents pollutants such as dust from invading a structure. In addition, spray foam insulation does not contain any loose particles that may adversely affect indoor air quality.
2lb Foam Approved for Flood Zones
Due to its water-resistant qualities, 2lb foam is approved for flood zones.
Improves Air Quality
Spray foam insulation in your home or business will improve air quality. A continuous, airtight seal prevents pollutants such as dust from invading a structure. In addition, spray foam insulation does not contain any loose particles that may adversely affect indoor air quality.
Fire Resistant
Spray foam has a fire inhibitor built into its chemical makeup. It will only burn when a flame is present. Once taken away, the foam will self-extinguish.
Environmentally Friendly
An environmentally friendly home is a great benefit for you, your family, and your environment. Take an active role in helping reduce greenhouse gasses, thus slowing the effects of global warming. By properly sealing your home, you reduce the amount of oil/coal that is needed to produce electricity and the carbon emitted into the environment.
Mould & Mildew Resistant
Mould needs two things to survive: food and water. In spray foam, there are no edible organic materials and since the foam creates an air-tight seal and its own vapour barrier, there is no water present. This creates environmental conditions for which no mould or fungal growth can be supported. This spray foam property makes it ideal for areas such as basements and crawlspaces.
Long Life
Spray foam does not deteriorate, compact, or lose its R-value over time.
Hypoallergenic
Spray foam insulation contributes to a healthy and comfortable indoor environment by creating a draft-free, airtight building envelop that prevents the infiltration of pollutants, toxins, and allergens. It also helps to prevent the growth of mould and fungi by controlling the movement of moisture and vapour through the building envelope and helping to eliminate condensing surfaces.
Deters Rodents
Mice find it very difficult to chew and break up the foam. With spray foam's ability to seal virtually all penetrations, it creates an effective barrier between rodents (or insects) and your living space.
